PRESS RELEASE
SoCal Ballet Scene Receives Arts Council Grant for September Festival
Long Beach, CA – July 12, 2024 – SoCal Ballet Scene is thrilled to announce that it has recently received a grant from the Arts Council for Long Beach and the City of Long Beach. The grant will go toward presenting a rare opportunity for the community to see and connect with professional SoCal-based ballet artists through its September 14th Signature Festival Event at The Carpenter Center.
The SoCal Ballet Scene Signature Festival brings together the best dance artists and companies in Southern California to perform a curated program of classical, contemporary, and commissioned ballet works. The festival has something for everyone to enjoy. Presented in an entertaining, educational format, each piece is introduced with interesting insights enhancing the viewing experience for all, especially first-time ballet attendees. The Festival offers matinee and evening performances with an outdoor fair in between followed by a reception allowing audience members to connect with ballet artists. Aligning with its mission to expand access to the artform, SCBS brings underserved youth to experience these live performances.
"The Festival was created to provide a performance platform to bring together dancers, choreographers, regional ballet companies, and connect them with the community to celebrate dance together. The entire event, from connections made backstage to the reception following the performance, creates a real sense of community among dancers and audience members. All are welcome to join us in this celebration of ballet." said Rena Kamariotakis, SoCal Ballet Scene Founder and Artistic Director.
